FAQ / So, you've got some questions!


I've gathered some of those frequently asked questions and have answered them here for you. Our time together is important, so ask away if you don't see what you are looking for below!

Q. How long have you been in business?
A. I've been photographing families and weddings for almost ten years now (crazy how time flies)! 

Q. How many weddings do you take a year?
A. It depends on the year! Typically 10 to 15. In the last year I've become more particular with the couples I take for weddings. I want to make sure that we have a connection and that our styles and expectations fit.

Q. Do you shoot with film or digital photography?
A. I do photograph primarily with film! Depending on the situation, I may use digital but it is rare.

Q. Do you have back-up equipment?
A. Yes. Always! I have multiple back ups for digital and film equipment.

Q. I see you are located in Grand Rapids. Are you willing/able to travel?
A. I am based in west Michigan, but I love to travel. I am more than willing and able to do so. Availability for travel would depend on the date.

Q. Do we get all of our photos?
A. In short, no. You don't want the blinking eyes and mid-sneezes capture. You also don't want to be overwhelmed by a hundred images that look the same. I go through each photograph taken and chose the best images for your gallery.

Q. How will we receive our photos?
A. All clients receive their photographs on an online gallery. You are able to download your photographs direct from the gallery, share the link, as well as purchase prints and products. You can purchase a USB with all images for an additional fee. All images are in high-resolution. 

Q. Turnaround time and image rights?
A. Turnaround time depends on the amount of work I have during the season. My contract will state that weddings are delivered between four to six weeks. Portrait sessions between two to four weeks. Printing rights are given to each client. When you download the images from your gallery, you will also receive an email with your printing rights.

Q. Do you have a second shooter or assistant?
A. I leave it up to the couple whether they would like a second shooter for their wedding day. However, if the wedding is over 8 hours or more than 150 guests will be attending, I require a second shooter. As for an assistant, depending on the location of the wedding or what the wedding day will entail, I will have an assistant there to help me with gear and keeping track of the timeline for me.

Q. Do we receive prints or albums?
A. Products received depend on the session or wedding collection you chose. As I state above, all photographs come on a gallery where you are able to make product purchases. I do offer some collections that include a set of prints or album(s) though.

Q. Do you have insurance?
A. Yes, and I am happy to provide a certificate of insurance to your venue upon request.

Q. How do we secure out date?
A. For all sessions, a 50% non-refundable retainer is required. For all weddings, a $1500 non-refundable retainer is required. Both sessions and weddings require a signed contract as well. Both can be completed online or in person. 

Q. What type of payments do you accept?
A. I accept payments in cash, check, or debt/credit card. Payments can be made via invoice online, or in person depending on the situation.
